LO3: Camerawork

Wide Shot: This is an example of a wide shot because we see our main characters in focus/ foreground and the side characters/extras in the background. This shot connotes that John and Sherlock are dominant and in control in this situation as they are walking with purpose with serious expressions on their faces. It also connotes that they are more important than the police or they are better at what they do than the police detectives are.

Close-up: This is a close-up because we can see the character in clear focus only from their shoulders upwards whilst the background is blurry and indistinctive. This shot connotes that the phone is of importance to the scene and that there is a phone call in progress as Sherlock is holding the phone up to his ear. We can also connote that it is a important and emotional call as Sherlock is visibly upset.
