LO3: Editing

Editing involves putting footage and organising footage to create a narrative. Also in editing adding sound i.e, sounds effects or special effects as well as taking out any footage that you don't need/doesn't fit the narrative.

Continuity editing:
Editing that is continuous in creating a narrative for the audience to understand. It appears to be 'invisible' using 'cuts'.

SHOT REVERSE SHOT STRUCTURE - This is when we cut from one shot to another and back again. This happens commonly between two characters having a conversation.

H.P + H.P - connotes equality and teamwork
H.P + A - connote parables, opposites, a power struggle, emphasise the juxtaposition between good and evil.
The SRSS between the H.P + A included a cut of a low angle of the villain rot a high angle of the H.P to connote the imbalance of power.

ACTION MATCH - Action Matches happen during Action Scenes. An action match has one action or movement over a number of shots next to each other.

CROSS CUTTING - Cutting from one location to another location it is meant to symbolise two different actions happening at the same time. It is meant to create 'meanwhile.' We can keep going back and forth between the two different locations.

INSERT SHOT - Focuses on one significant prop or iconography. It is used to emphasise the importance or to use it to emphasise the enigma and danger.

Iconography - Prop that has symbolic meaning i.e., Christianity - Cross, Bible.

EYE LINE MATCH - Is when we see a character look offscreen and then it cuts to what they see. This could be a prop or another character.
